Bleach opens the cuticle and removes pigment from the cortex, and it does not put the cuticle back. Repeated heat styling degrades what remains. Hair in either state is missing part of the protective outer layer that unprocessed hair has, which is why the same tool at the same setting produces a different outcome on it.
Nothing regrows cuticle. Conditioners and bond-builders improve how the remaining structure behaves and feels, which is genuinely worth doing, but the honest framing is damage limitation rather than repair. The damaged length has to grow out.

Four heat settings published as 212F, 176F and 140F plus cold is the disclosure the rest of the category refuses to make. It means you can pick a setting against a damage threshold instead of against a vague label.

What those numbers mean
365F as a fixed target is a deliberate rejection of the specification race. It sits under every temperature the thermal-damage literature associates with cortex damage, and the tool simply will not let you go higher.
The interesting part is the 250-readings-per-second control loop. A conventional iron cools when cold hair hits it and then overshoots on the way back; a fast loop holds the number, which is why one pass at 365F can beat two at 400F.

The most useful thing on that table is the first row. A dryer is not where most heat damage comes from — dryers on this site top out at a published 212F to 230F. Irons operate at 330F to 450F in direct contact. If your hair is damaged and you use an iron, that is the tool to change first.
