The Best Body Groomers and Bikini Trimmers for Women
Three of these are built for the bikini line and two are built for whole legs, and buying across that line is where almost all the disappointment in this category comes from.

How this page is funded: the buy links below are affiliate links, and Heat Index earns a commission on qualifying purchases at no cost to you. Nothing on this page was supplied by a manufacturer, and commission plays no part in the ranking — read the full disclosure. Picks are chosen from published specifications, not from hands-on testing; the method is written down so you can check it. Prices last verified October 23, 2026.
For the bikini line specifically, the Philips Beauty BikiniPerfect Advanced — three attachments that separate trimming to a length from shaving off stubble, 60 minutes of runtime, and an ingrown-hair claim Philips puts in writing. If legs and underarms are also in scope, the Panasonic 4-blade ladies shaver instead, because four floating blades under dual foils is a tool built to cover area and a precision bikini head is not. Those are two different purchases and this page's main job is to stop you making the wrong one.
This category is badly served by its own marketing. Every listing promises smoothness and most of them avoid publishing the two specifications that decide anything: what lengths the combs actually cut to, and whether the maker will state a waterproof rating or only the word waterproof. Of the five tools below, three publish comb lengths and exactly one publishes an IP number.
How we judged this list
- Trim to a length, or remove to the skin. These are two different products wearing one category name. A trimmer with combs leaves a deliberate length; a foil shaver cuts at skin level and cannot leave one. Nothing else on this list matters as much as getting this right first.
- Published comb lengths, in millimeters. "Three attachments" tells you nothing. 2, 4 and 6 mm tells you what you can actually ask the tool for. Two of these publish nothing about length at all.
- A stated water rating, not the adjective. Most of this happens in a shower. IPX7 is a specification - immersion in up to a meter of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. "Waterproof" on its own is a word.
- What the maker will say in writing about irritation. Three of these five make a specific, quotable claim about ingrown hairs or razor bumps. We treat those as claims by the brand, which is what they are, and we name the mechanism behind each one.
- Runtime and how it is powered. A rechargeable cell holds its speed and then stops; an AA battery weakens gradually, and a weakening motor pulls hair rather than cutting it. On sensitive skin that distinction is the difference between a comfortable session and a bad one.

#1 · Trimming and shaping the bikini line, not just removing it
Philips Beauty BikiniPerfect Advanced Women's Trimmer Kit (HP6376/61)
Three attachments that separate the two jobs people conflate - a trimming head with a comb for length, and a micro shaving head for stubble - with the ingrown-hair claim stated on the listing.
| Attachments | Three: precision trimming head, precision comb, and a micro shaving head for stubblesource |
|---|---|
| Runtime | Rechargeable, up to 60 minutes cordlesssource |
| Wet or dry | Stated for wet or dry use, in or out of the showersource |
| Stated benefit | Stated to decrease ingrown hairs and decrease irritationsource |
What those numbers mean
Sixty minutes is the longest published runtime of the four women's tools here, and on a cordless device the runtime is what decides whether it is ready when you are.
The three heads map onto three different outcomes: comb for a deliberate length, trimmer head alone for a close tidy, micro shaver for skin-level stubble. Most disappointment in this category comes from using one head for all three jobs.
Philips does not publish a waterproof IPX rating on this listing, only that it is for wet or dry use. That is a weaker statement than an IPX number and worth knowing before it goes in the shower.
What it does well
- Longest published runtime here at 60 minutes
- Three heads for three genuinely different results
- Ingrown-hair and irritation reduction stated by the maker
- Zippered travel bag included
What it does not
- No IPX waterproof rating published, only wet-or-dry use
- No cutting length published for the comb
- No charge time published
- Listing copy is heavily gendered, which tells you nothing about the tool
Skip this one if: Skip it if you want one tool for legs, underarms and the bikini line. This is a small-area kit, and covering a leg with a precision head is slow work - a foil shaver built for larger areas is the right shape for that.

#2 · Legs and underarms as well as the bikini line
Panasonic Ladies 4-Blade Electric Shaver with Bikini Trimmer (ES-AWL8AV)
Four floating blades under dual ultra-thin foils, which is a shaver built for covering area - the only tool here that is genuinely at home on a whole leg.
| Cutting system | Four ultra-sharp floating blades with dual ultra-thin outer foilssource |
|---|---|
| Blade material | Hypoallergenic stainless steel, stated to help prevent irritation and razor bumpssource |
| Attachments | Pop-up trimmer plus a bikini comb for sensitive areassource |
| Runtime | Up to 35 minutes per charge, cordless charging stand includedsource |
| Wet or dry | Waterproof, stated for use wet or dry in or out of the showersource |
What those numbers mean
Four blades across two foils is a wide cutting window, and Panasonic states the design lets you shave forwards or backwards to cover large areas faster. That is the specification that makes this a leg tool rather than a bikini-line tool that also does legs.
The razor-bump claim is a materials claim about hypoallergenic stainless steel, not a medical one. It is a reasonable variable to change if your skin reacts, and it is not a treatment.
Thirty-five minutes is the shortest runtime of the rechargeable tools here. On a whole-body routine that is a real constraint, and the charging stand exists because of it.
What it does well
- Four floating blades and dual foils, built to cover area
- Hypoallergenic stainless steel blades, stated against razor bumps
- Pop-up trimmer and bikini comb for the areas foils cannot reach
- Waterproof, with a cordless charging stand
What it does not
- 35-minute runtime is the shortest of the rechargeable tools here
- No IPX number published, only the word waterproof
- No trimmer comb lengths published
- A foil shaver cannot leave a deliberate length without the comb
Skip this one if: Skip it if what you actually want is to keep hair at a set length. A foil shaver cuts at skin level - that is the whole point of it - and the bikini comb is a concession rather than a length system. A trimmer kit is the right category for that.

#3 · Anyone nervous about putting a blade near sensitive skin
Philips Norelco OneBlade Intimate Trimmer and Shaver
The only tool here whose skin protection is described as a three-part system - rounded edges, a bridge and rounded tips - on a cutter that moves 100 times a second rather than spinning.
| Cutting system | OneBlade fast-moving cutter, stated at 100x per second, for hair of any lengthsource |
|---|---|
| Skin protection | SkinProtect blade with triple skin protection: rounded edges, a bridge and rounded tips, stated to prevent nicks, cuts and irritationsource |
| Length control | 3 mm body comb, usable in any direction, removable for a closer shavesource |
| Water rating | IPX7, stated for wet or dry use with or without foamsource |
| Runtime and consumables | 30 minutes after an 8-hour charge, USB-A charging; blade stated to last up to 4 months at 2 full shaves a weeksource |
What those numbers mean
This is the only tool in this group with a published IPX number rather than the word waterproof. IPX7 is a specification; waterproof is an adjective, and the difference matters on a device you will use in a shower.
One 3 mm comb is the whole length system. You get 3 mm or skin-level and nothing in between, which is a deliberate simplification for a tool aimed at first-time users rather than an oversight.
The blade is a consumable with a published interval - four months at two shaves a week - which makes this the one tool here with a knowable running cost rather than only a purchase price.
What it does well
- Published IPX7 rating, not just the word waterproof
- Skin protection described as a system, with each element named
- Listed for women and men, body, armpit, leg and genital areas
- Published blade life, so the running cost is knowable
What it does not
- One comb length only, 3 mm
- 8-hour charge for 30 minutes of use is the slowest charge here
- Blade replacement every four months is an ongoing cost
- Ni-MH battery rather than lithium-ion
Skip this one if: Skip it if you want to set and keep a length. With a single 3 mm comb this tool offers two outcomes, and anyone who wants to run a trimmer at 6 mm one week and 2 mm the next is buying the wrong shape of product.

#4 · The cheapest honest way to try an electric tool instead of a razor
Remington Smooth & Silky Body & Bikini Kit
Three heads including a rotating exfoliator, which is the only mechanism in this group aimed at the cause of ingrown hairs rather than at the hair itself.
| Attachments | Three hypoallergenic heads: bikini trimmer, angled foil shaver, and a rotating exfoliatorsource |
|---|---|
| Trimmer lengths | Adjustable guide comb at 2, 4 and 6 mm, or comb-off for a skin-level trimsource |
| Exfoliator claim | Rotating exfoliator head stated to help reduce the look of ingrown hairs and razor burn as part of a regular routinesource |
| Power | Runs on one AA battery, includedsource |
| Wet or dry | Waterproof, stated for use in or out of the showersource |
What those numbers mean
Three published comb lengths at 2, 4 and 6 mm is more length control than any other tool in this group offers, and it is the specification that makes this a grooming kit rather than a removal kit.
The exfoliator is the interesting head. Ingrown hairs happen when a cut hair turns back into skin under a layer of dead cells, so a mechanism aimed at the dead cells is aimed at the cause. Remington is careful to say reduce the look of, and so are we.
One AA battery is the compromise that pays for the price. It cannot slow down gracefully the way a charge does - it just gets weaker - and a weakening motor pulls rather than cuts, which is the state you want to avoid on sensitive skin.
What it does well
- Three published comb lengths, the widest length control here
- Exfoliator head addresses the cause of ingrowns, not just the hair
- Angled foil shaver for a closer finish on contours
- Cheapest tool in this group by a clear margin
What it does not
- One AA battery rather than a rechargeable cell
- No runtime published at all
- No IPX number, only the word waterproof
- A weakening battery pulls hair, which is the opposite of what sensitive skin needs
Skip this one if: Skip it if you groom often or cover large areas. A single AA cell driving a foil head through a whole leg is the wrong tool for the job, and a rechargeable shaver will be both faster and gentler by the end of the session.

#5 · Reaching your own back, and hygiene between uses
Philips Norelco Body Groomer 9000 (BG9480/50)
A shaver head and a trimmer head on one body, a foldable back attachment and a UV cube to store it in. The most completely equipped body groomer here, and priced like it.
| Heads | Dual-head system — a 2D shaver head for a close finish and a trimmer head for a styled lengthsource |
|---|---|
| Skin protection | Triple Protect shave system: pearl tips, a hypoallergenic foil and a skin guard to minimize irritationsource |
| Head movement | 2D flexing headsource |
| Lengths | 11 lengths from 0.2 to 7 mm, using an adjustable precision comb at 1 to 3 mm, an adjustable pivoting comb at 3 to 7 mm and an intimate combsource |
| Reach | Foldable back attachment, stated to extend reach across the bodysource |
| Runtime | Up to 120 minutes on Li-Ion power, with no-oil bladessource |
| Wet use | Showerproof, wet or drysource |
| Storage | UV sanitizing cube included, for hygiene between usessource |
| Warranty | Stated as up to 5 years, footnoted on the listingsource |
What those numbers mean
The dual-head system is the real differentiator. Every other tool here makes you choose between trimming to a length and shaving close; this one ships both heads and lets the same handle do either.
A foldable back attachment sounds like a gimmick until you try to reach between your own shoulder blades. Reach is the constraint nobody markets and everybody discovers.
120 minutes is double the runtime of most of this category, which on a tool used for long sessions over a lot of surface area is the difference between one charge a month and one a week.
What it does well
- Both a shaver head and a trimmer head in one tool
- Foldable back attachment for genuine reach
- 120-minute runtime, the longest here
- UV sanitizing cube, which nothing else in this group offers
What it does not
- The most expensive body groomer on this page
- Philips publishes no motor speed or cutting rate
- The UV cube is another object to find shelf space for
Skip this one if: Skip it if you only groom below the waist and never your back or chest. The reach attachment and the second head are most of what you are paying for, and a single-purpose groin trimmer costs half as much.

The specifications, side by side
This is the whole argument of the page in one table. Every figure is from the maker's own listing, and every blank is a real blank rather than a shortcut.
| Tool | What it is for | Published lengths | Water rating | Runtime |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Philips BikiniPerfect Advanced | Bikini line - trim, shape or shave | Not published (precision comb, no mm stated) | Wet or dry use; no IP number | Up to 60 min, rechargeable |
| Panasonic ladies 4-blade shaver | Legs, underarms and bikini area | Not published (bikini comb, no mm stated) | Waterproof; no IP number | Up to 35 min, charging stand |
| Philips OneBlade Intimate | Intimate and body, listed for women and men | One 3 mm body comb, or comb-off | IPX7, stated | 30 min after an 8-hour charge |
| Remington Smooth & Silky kit | Bikini line, plus an exfoliator head | 2, 4 and 6 mm, or comb-off | Waterproof; no IP number | Not published - one AA battery |
| Philips Body Groomer 9000 | Whole body, including back and chest | 11 lengths, 0.2 to 7 mm | Showerproof, wet or dry | Up to 120 min, Li-Ion |
Three findings come out of that table and none of them track price. The widest published length range belongs to the most expensive tool — the Body Groomer 9000's eleven lengths from 0.2 to 7 mm are more control than the other four combined. The only published IP number belongs to the cheapest rechargeable tool, the OneBlade Intimate. And the best length control among the bikini-specific kits is the cheapest one, the Remington, at 2, 4 and 6 mm.
Trim, shave, or both — the decision that comes first
Almost every bad purchase in this category is a category error rather than a quality problem, and it takes one question to avoid: do you want hair gone, or do you want hair shorter?
- Gone, over a large area — a foil shaver. The Panasonic's four floating blades under dual ultra-thin foils are designed so you can shave forwards or backwards and cover a leg quickly. A bikini trimmer used on a whole leg is slow, hot work.
- Gone, in a small sensitive area — a guarded tool rather than the closest one. The OneBlade Intimate's protection is described as a three-part system (rounded edges, a bridge, rounded tips) on a cutter that moves 100 times a second instead of spinning, and Philips states it is designed to prevent nicks, cuts and irritation.
- Shorter, at a length you choose — a trimmer with published combs. Remington's 2, 4 and 6 mm is the clearest length system in the bikini-specific group; the Body Groomer 9000's 0.2 to 7 mm is the clearest anywhere on this page.
- Both, in one session — the Body Groomer 9000 or the BikiniPerfect. Both ship a trimming head AND a shaving head, which is the only honest way to get both outcomes from one handle.
The irritation claims, and what is behind each one
Three of these tools make a written claim about ingrown hairs or razor bumps. They are not equivalent claims, and the mechanism matters more than the wording.
| Tool | The stated claim | The mechanism |
|---|---|---|
| Philips BikiniPerfect | Stated to decrease ingrown hairs and decrease irritation | Trimming to a length instead of cutting at skin level - a hair that was never cut below the surface cannot grow back into it |
| Panasonic ladies shaver | Hypoallergenic stainless steel blades stated to help prevent irritation and razor bumps | A materials claim about the metal in contact with skin, not a design claim |
| Remington Smooth & Silky | Rotating exfoliator stated to help reduce the look of ingrown hairs and razor burn as part of a regular routine | Removing the dead-cell layer a cut hair gets trapped under - aimed at the cause rather than the hair |
| Philips OneBlade Intimate | Triple Skin Protection stated to prevent nicks, cuts and irritation | Three physical features between blade and skin: rounded edges, a bridge, rounded tips |
| Philips Body Groomer 9000 | Triple Protect shave system stated to minimize irritation | Pearl tips, a hypoallergenic foil and a skin guard |
The Remington's exfoliator is the one genuinely different idea here. An ingrown hair happens when a hair cut at or below the skin's surface turns back and grows into the skin under a layer of dead cells, so a mechanism aimed at the dead cells is aimed at the cause rather than at the hair. Note how carefully Remington words it — "reduce the look of" — and note that we are repeating the claim rather than confirming it.
What none of these five publish
- A motor speed or cutting rate, from any of the five. That is near-universal in body grooming and it means the one number you could compare across brands does not exist.
- A blade replacement interval, except the OneBlade Intimate — which states up to four months at two full shaves a week, and is therefore the only tool here with a knowable running cost rather than only a purchase price.
- A charge time, except the OneBlade Intimate's 8 hours, which is the slowest here and the honest cost of its low price.
- A runtime at all, for the Remington, which runs on a single AA battery. That is the compromise that pays for the price, and it has a real consequence: a cell that is weakening does not stop, it slows, and a slowing blade pulls rather than cuts.
- Any length figure for the two tools most people will consider first. Both the BikiniPerfect and the Panasonic ship a comb and neither states what it cuts to.
Which one, by what you are actually doing
- Bikini line, and you want to shape rather than remove — the Philips BikiniPerfect Advanced. Three heads, 60 minutes of runtime, and the clearest separation between the trimming job and the stubble job.
- Legs and underarms as well — the Panasonic ladies 4-blade shaver. It is the only tool here built to cover area, and the pop-up trimmer and bikini comb handle the places foils cannot.
- You are nervous about electric tools near sensitive skin — the Philips OneBlade Intimate. One 3 mm comb is the entire length system, which is a deliberate simplification, and it is the only tool here with a published IPX7 rating.
- You want to try this without spending much — the Remington Smooth & Silky kit. Three published comb lengths, an angled foil shaver and the exfoliator head, for less than anything else here. The AA battery is the reason it is cheap.
- Back, chest and legs, not just the bikini line — the Philips Body Groomer 9000. Eleven lengths, a foldable back attachment, 120 minutes of runtime and a UV sanitizing cube. It is the most expensive tool on this page and the only one that reaches between your own shoulder blades. The body groomers roundup ranks it against the other full-body tools.

Questions people actually ask
What is the best body groomer for women?
For the bikini line, the Philips Beauty BikiniPerfect Advanced - three attachments that separate trimming to a length from shaving stubble, up to 60 minutes of runtime, and an ingrown-hair reduction claim Philips states on the listing. If legs and underarms are also in scope, the Panasonic 4-blade ladies shaver is the better buy, because four floating blades under dual foils are built to cover area where a precision bikini head is not. Prices move, so tap any buy button for the live figure.
What is the difference between a bikini trimmer and a women's electric shaver?
Length. A trimmer uses combs to leave hair at a chosen length - 2, 4 or 6 mm on the Remington kit here - and cannot cut to the skin. A foil shaver cuts at skin level and has no way to leave a controlled length. They are not substitutes, and buying the wrong one is the most common mistake in this category. Two tools on this page ship both a trimming head and a shaving head, which is the only way to get both results from one handle.
Will an electric trimmer stop ingrown hairs?
It can reduce them, and no device prevents them. An ingrown hair happens when a hair cut at or below the skin's surface curls back and grows into the skin, so trimming to a length rather than shaving to skin level removes the mechanism - which is why Philips states its BikiniPerfect decreases ingrown hairs. The American Academy of Dermatology's own prevention advice is mostly about technique and blade condition: shave with the grain, soften the hair first, and replace a disposable blade every five to seven shaves. Remington's exfoliator head is the one mechanism here aimed at the dead-cell layer a hair gets trapped under.
Can I use these in the shower?
All five are stated for wet or dry use, but only one publishes a number. The Philips OneBlade Intimate states IPX7 - protected against immersion in up to one meter of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. The other four say waterproof, showerproof or "wet or dry use", which are descriptions rather than ratings. If shower use is the main reason you are buying, the published rating is worth more than the adjective.
Is a men's body groomer different from a women's?
Mechanically, usually not much - the Philips OneBlade Intimate on this page is listed for women and men, and the Body Groomer 9000 is a full-body tool regardless of who holds it. What differs is the shape of the kit: tools sold to women tend to ship smaller precision heads and an exfoliator, and tools sold to men tend to ship wider heads, back attachments and longer combs. Buy for the body area and the length you want, not for the color of the box.
Do I need a rechargeable one, or is a battery model fine?
A battery model is fine for small areas and occasional use, and it is why the Remington kit here costs what it does. The difference shows up over a long session: a rechargeable cell holds its speed and then stops, while an AA cell weakens gradually, and a slowing blade pulls hair instead of cutting it. On sensitive skin, pulling is the thing you are trying to avoid - so for whole-leg or whole-body routines, rechargeable is worth the extra.
